A must see exhibition is Road to 2012 Aiming High at The National Portrait Gallery, London. 19 July to 23 September. It features images of athletes and those involved in the Olympics.
The featured photo is of Jillian Edelstein, one of three photographers commissioned for the exhibition, the biggest commission NPG has ever given.
I apologise for not showing a photograph from the exhibition, but I did not want to breach anyones copyright. The featured photograph of Jillian, was taken by me in 1995. At the time, Jillian was 8 months pregnant with her first child. The photograph was taken with a Nikon FM2 using 35mm lens, and Kodax Tmax 400 asa film.
Go to www.npg.org.uk to see more about the exhibition. You can also see what went on behind the scenes of each shoot, along with interviews of Jillian Edelstein and Nadav Kander, who was also commissioned for the project. Interestingly, they both grew up in South Africa.
Enjoy the exhibition, and thank you for reading this blog.
